Shannon Leo is the Director of Professional Resources at Cassels Brock. In this role, she oversees the recruitment, development, and retention initiatives for associates and students across all three offices. Shannon regularly coaches associates and students on performance, practice management, and professional development, while proactively identifying training and growth opportunities. She brings a practical, empathetic, and business-minded approach to her work.
Since being called to the bar in 2004, Shannon has spent the majority of her career assisting lawyers and law students with their professional and career development. Before joining Cassels Brock in 2015, she managed the student program for another large law firm for five years, and was the Director of Career Services at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law from 2006 to 2010.
Shannon completed a Master’s degree in counselling psychology at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto and has also completed professional coach training through CTI.
In addition to her work leading the Professional Resources team, Shannon is a member of both the firm’s Inclusion and Diversity Committee and the Women’s Professional Development Committee. She has been involved with the National Association of Legal Professionals (NALP) since 2005 and was recently appointed the chair for the Canadian Section’s On-Campus Interview Advisory Group. She is a regular speaker at NALP events and law schools across the country.
