Koen Yi is a 2018-2019 articling student at Cassels Brock. He joined the firm as a summer student in 2016.
Koen graduated from the J.D./M.B.A. candidate at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law and the Rotman School of Management. In 2015, he was awarded the Joseph L. Rotman Entrance Award Scholarship. He was involved in student life as the Vice President of Alumni Affairs of the J.D./M.B.A. Association. During his first year of law school, Koen was an editor in the corporate cell for the University of Toronto’s Law Review and a volunteer at the pro bono clinic Downtown Legal Services.
Koen previously summered at Zhongzi Law Office, a leading full-service law firm in Beijing, China. At Zhongzi Law Office, he worked in the Intellectual Property department.
Koen graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with minors in Sociology and Philosophy from the University of Toronto. Koen also holds a Bachelor of Education degree from York University and is a certified member of the Ontario College of Teachers.
Koen enjoys playing violin, painting and playing basketball. He is an adventurous traveler and spent the summer of 2013 backpacking around Western Europe, China and Japan.
