Joseph Hamaliuk is a 2018-2019 articling student at Cassels Brock. He first joined the firm as a summer student in 2017.
Joseph graduated from the J.D. program at Queen’s University Faculty of Law, where he received the Academic Excellence Award for highest standing in constitutional law. He also spent a semester studying international business law at Université Jean Moulin III in Lyon, France. During law school, he was an active member of the Queen’s Law community, and spent much of his time tutoring for the Queen’s Equity Program, providing academic and career advice to first year law students. He also represented Queen’s University at the 2017 Corporate and Securities Law Moot, where he was recognized as a Top Oralist, and went on to coach the Queen’s University team in 2018.
Before attending law school, Joseph obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Canadian History from the University of Calgary, where he graduated with distinction. During his undergraduate studies, Joseph had a keen interest in local politics and worked as a poll officer for both municipal and provincial elections. Prior to joining Cassels Brock, Joseph worked for several years as a sales associate for Bell Canada, where he developed a strong appreciation for quality client service.
Joseph enjoys current events, politics and anything travel related. Originally from western Canada, Joseph is an avid hiker and will never turn down the opportunity to explore Canada’s vast wilderness.
