Trust Officer

Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP is a leading national law firm of more than 200 lawyers, focused on serving the transaction, advocacy and advisory needs of Canada’s most dynamic business sectors.

Our Toronto office is currently recruiting for a Trust Officer in our Accounting Department reporting to the Controller.  The successful candidate must be a team player as well as being flexible with great customer service skills. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Processing (recording) trust transactions in ELITE 3E.
  • Initiate banking transactions of trust funds through online portals.
  • Reviewing all trust instructions for compliance with Firm policies.
  • Preparing bank deposits, wire instructions to banks and trust cheques.
  • Placing and liquidating investments of clients’ trust funds, as instructed.
  • Ad hoc analyses and reporting on trust activity.
  • Reviewing and filing of trust instruction documentation and escrow agreements.

The successful candidate must have the following education, experience and/or demonstrated skills:

  • Degree / diploma in accounting or business.
  • Detail oriented with good communication & organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly EXCEL.
  • Previous law firm trust role, an asset.
  • Knowledge of provincial law societies’ trust rules and regulations, an asset.
  • Familiarity with ELITE 3E and online cash management banking software, an asset.
