Accounts Payable Clerk– Contract

Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP is a leading national law firm focused on serving the transaction, advocacy and advisory needs of Canada’s most dynamic business sectors. We have one of the largest business law practices in the country, serving multinational, national and mid-market clients from our offices in Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary.

Our Toronto office is currently recruiting for a 7-month contract Accounts Payable Clerk, in our Accounting Department reporting to the Accounts Payable Supervisor.  This position will be responsible for various accounting processes related to accounts payable and expense reports and supporting the Accounts Payable group.

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Process vendor invoices, ensuring they have proper documentation and approval in accordance to company’s policy
  • Process client cost recovery accounts
  • Review and process daily cheque request
  • Communicate with internal and external personnel in a professional and timely manner
  • Providing supporting documentation as needed.
  • Assist in processing employee expense reports or corporate credit card account transactions
  • Ability to process and follow up on rush items.
  • Work with vendors to resolve past due invoices and reconcile monthly vendor statements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must have the following education, experience and/or demonstrated skills:

  • Post Secondary Education in an Accounting Program.
  • At least 2 – 4 years of experience in Accounts Payable
  • Proficient knowledge of accounting practices and principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with intermediate Excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong communication skills, courteous, professional.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
