Jonathan Tkatch

As an associate in the Securities Group, Jon’s practice focuses on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and regulatory compliance, including corporate governance, continuous disclosure and Canadian stock exchange related matters. He routinely acts as counsel to both public and private issuers and investment banks.

Jon has worked on a number of significant M&A transactions, including:

  • Goldcorp Inc.’s $1.5 billion acquisition of Gold Eagle Mines Ltd.
  • The merger of Ontex Resources Limited and Roxmark Mines Limited to form Goldstone Resources Inc.
  • Lake Shore Gold Corporation and West Timmins Mining Inc.’s business combination

Jon has worked on a number of significant financing transactions, including:

  • Phoenix Coal Inc.’s reverse take-over of Marimba Capital Corp. and concurrent public financing of approximately $100 million
  • Gold Wheaton Gold Corp.’s $260 million private placement to fund its first streaming agreement with FNX Mining

Jon is involved in a variety of charitable causes and has chaired several charitable committees and fundraising events. He is also an avid canoe tripper and directed the canoe trip program at a children’s summer camp in Northern Ontario for five years.  Jon is also passionate about all sports, but especially hockey and golf. 

Prior to joining Cassels Brock as an associate, Jon worked as a summer and articling student at the firm.
