Stanley M. Makuch

Stan has represented a number of major private and public sector clients including: University of Toronto, Friedman Equities Ltd., Laidlaw Environmental, Waste Management (Canada) Inc., Edilcan Development Corporation, Parallax Land Corporation, Canadian Tire Real Estate Limited, Plazacorp Investments, Skydome, IPCF (Loblaws), Queensville Properties Inc., City of Toronto, Town of Georgina, Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, Town of East Gwillimbury, City of York, County of Dufferin, Town of Innisfil, Hamilton Harbour Commissioners, Scarborough Public Utilities Commission, Town of Markham, Town of Port Hope and the Liquor Control Board of Ontario.

He has extensive experience before the Ontario Municipal Board, the Environmental Assessment Board and the courts.

Stan is the author of a number of books and articles including Canadian Municipal and Planning Law (Carswell), cited by the Supreme Court of Canada; Municipal Licensing (U of T Press); and The Spills Bill: Duties Rights and Obligations (Butterworths). He is also the founding editor of The Municipal and Planning Law Reports.

He was Vice Chair of the Committee of Adjustment of the City of Toronto and a member of the Metropolitan Toronto Police Commission and the City of Toronto Planning Board. He was also Professor of Law and Planning at the University of Toronto as well as Associate Dean of the Faculty of Law and currently is Adjunct Professor of Law and Planning at the University of Toronto.
