Spencer Toffoli is a member of the 2018 summer student class at Cassels Brock.
Spencer is a J.D. candidate at the University of Victoria Faculty of Law, where she is actively involved in her school community. Spencer is co-president of the Feminist Law Club, an organizer of UVic LawSuits (a professional clothing co-operative for incoming students), and a volunteer for Pro Bono Students Canada. This year, Spencer was delighted to be an oralist for UVic Law’s winning team at the 2018 BC Law Schools Competitive Moot, held at the British Columbia Court of Appeal. She is especially excited to gain new experiences, make international legal connections and learn about international trade law during her Fall 2018 exchange semester at Hong Kong University.
Spencer graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts in the History and Philosophy of Science, where her love of applying theory to the practical world was born. Spencer was a co-founder of the Exchange Student Club, which was voted “Best UBC Club” by students in 2015. She was also a writer for the Ubyssey student newspaper, a member of the UBC Equestrian Team, and completed a year-long exchange to the University of Melbourne in Australia.
Post- undergraduate, Spencer worked seasonally as a landscaper for the City of Surrey, and backpacked around Europe, parts of the United States, and Costa-Rica. In her spare time, she enjoys dressage, rock climbing, hiking, and is learning to play squash.
