Patricia Wood is an associate in our Business Law Group. Patricia’s practice focuses on domestic and cross-border corporate transactions involving issuers and investment dealers, including public offerings, private placements and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Cassels Brock as an associate, Patricia was both a summer and articling student at the firm.
Patricia is a graduate of the J.D./M.B.A. program at Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business, specializing in Global Mining Management and graduating with Honours. She was the recipient of the Dennis Starritt Award and the Women Who Rock Award for academic excellence and community involvement. In addition, she received her certificate in International Business Law from Queen’s Law School at the Bader International Center. Patricia was also a Georgetown University Law Centre student and studied at the Center for Transnational Legal Studies in London, UK, where she received the Best Student Award in Transnational Law and Global Governance. Prior to studying law, she obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, graduating with High Distinction and specializing in Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology.
During law school, Patricia was a senior editor for Transnational Legal Theory and a research assistant. She also presented her thesis at King’s College London and helped develop teachable modules for law school classes across the world. She was the Hennick Fellow for Business and Law and co-chaired the annual J.D./M.B.A. conference. Patricia was also involved in several student organizations, holding executive positions with the Osgoode Society for Corporate Governance, the Osgoode Business Law Society and the Osgoode Women’s Network, writing for The Court, and editing articles as copy editor for Osgoode’s newspaper, The Obiter. She also competed in several moots, including the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, Austria.
Before joining Cassels, Patricia worked at the Bank of Montreal in the Capital Markets Legal Group and taught yoga as a certified Yoga Alliance instructor. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, playing golf, cycling, snowboarding and running.
