Nicole Auty
Nicole's practice focuses on all areas of municipal, planning and environmental law, including tax assessment appeals. Nicole is active in organizing seminars, giving presentations and preparing information pieces for clients on municipal planning and environmental matters. The combination of her formal education and her practical experience provides Nicole with a unique perspective.
Some of Nicole's related work experience includes:
- Acting for clients in matters before the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB), other administrative tribunals and the Superior Courts in relation to a range of municipal, planning and environmental law issues, including appeals from the OMB to the Courts
- Representing public and private sector clients before the OMB and Assessment Review Board, including advising the Town of Georgina, the Region of Niagara and Ontario Realty Corporation on planning and environmental matters before the Board
- Representing clients on matters before the courts on municipal election matters, including an application for judicial review
- Acting for public sector clients in municipal enforcement matters, including Building Code and Fire Code prosecutions
- Preparing development applications and obtaining development approvals for private and public sector clients; specifically, assisting with the representation of the University of Toronto and the Toronto Film Studios in obtaining development approvals in matters before both the Committee of Adjustment and the OMB
- Advising public and private sector clients on issues of municipal liability and authority, property tax assessment, nuisance and negligence
- Representing the Towns of Georgina and Whitchurch-Stouffville on insurance defence litigation
- Providing detailed analysis on a range of legal issues in planning and environmental law
Nicole is an elected member of the 2008-2009 Ontario Bar Association Municipal Law Executive. In addition to her law practice, she has authored of a number of information pieces for clients on municipal and environmental matters.
