Marie Kiluu-Ngila is a member of the 2018 summer student class at Cassels Brock.
Marie is a JD candidate at the University of Toronto. She is an active member of the U of T community through her involvement as Co-President of the Black Law Students’ Association and executive member of First Generation Network. She is also an Associate Editor for the University of Toronto’s Indigenous Law Journal.
Marie graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, History, and Gender Studies from the University of Toronto. Her honours thesis focused on women’s roles in trade networks in 19th century East Africa. During her undergraduate studies, she spent time in the United Kingdom, conducting research at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London. Prior to joining Cassels, Marie worked as an ESL teacher and volunteered at the Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture.
In her spare time, Marie enjoys traveling and has visited over 20 countries including Turkey, Singapore, and the Philippines. She also enjoys trying new restaurants in the city, and reading American classics.
