Lara Jackson

Lara Jackson focuses her practice on commercial litigation, securities litigation, class actions and insolvency litigation and advice. She has appeared before all levels of the Ontario and Federal Courts as well as various administrative tribunals.

Lara has represented a wide variety of clients including individuals, private and public companies in commercial litigation matters involving contract disputes, oppression, shareholders’ remedies, directors’ and officers’ liability, broker liability, and plan of arrangement approval. Lara has significant expertise in representing market participants in parallel civil, regulatory and criminal proceedings, including cross-border proceedings. She also regularly advises clients with respect to corporate governance issues and compliance with the securities regulatory regime. 

Some of Lara’s recent mandates include:

  • Defending class actions, including a securities class action alleging market timing
  • Representing senior officers in cross-border criminal and regulatory proceedings involving financial disclosure violations
  • Obtaining and executing an Anton Piller order against a former employee of an information technology company
  • Representing a labour-sponsored investment fund in a contested plan of arrangement and proxy battle
