Lanning J. Abramson

A partner in the Real Estate Group, Lanny has played an active role in the purchase, sale and mortgaging of commercial and development real estate in Ontario and has been counsel to various members of the financial services industry in both the finalization of new mortgage transactions and the realization and recovery of special loans in commercial and residential situations. He has been retained by various banking, trust and insurance companies to provide counsel in the acquisition and divestiture of financial institutions.

Lanny has acted on behalf of:

  • Scotia Mortgage Corporation in providing financing for Uptown Rosemont's acquisition of "Jefferson at 11 St. Joseph" from JPI Canada
  • CDPQ Mortgage Corporation in its financing of Menkes/AEW Acquisition Partnership's purchase of "Consilium Place"
  • The Bank of Nova Scotia in providing financing for the purchase of 'The Jefferson Theatre District' condominium building in downtown Toronto
  • CIBC Mortgages Inc. in the mortgage loan of $32.3 million financing the purchase of a shopping centre
  • HBOS Canada in four mortgage loans to Crombie REIT in the aggregate amount of $100 million
  • MCAP Financial Corp. in a $75 million first mortgage loan refinancing by Morguard Real Estate Investment Trust

A graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Lanny has lectured in the law clerks programme at Humber College.
