Jamie Firsten
Jamie Firsten is a member of the Business Law Group. His practice focuses on corporate and commercial law. He is also involved in private equity, venture financing, and merger and acquisition transactions involving both public and private companies. He advises clients in a wide range of industries including manufacturing and industrial, retail, natural resources, medical devices and pharmaceuticals, information technology and media.
Jamie has experience working with clients on the incorporation, organization and financing of companies, and in drafting shareholder, partnership, and joint venture agreements as well as a variety of commercial agreements.
Jamie is also a member of the Employment Law Group, providing advice on corporate employment matters. This includes drafting employment agreements, terminations letters, and providing advice on transaction based employment issues.
He has worked on a variety of significant transactions, including:
• Acting for Goldcorp Inc. in its sale of the San Dimas gold-silver mine in Mexico to Primero Mining Corp
• Acting for Hotel 550 Wellington LP in its acquisition of the recently opened Thompson Toronto Hotel
• Sale of two prominent BMW dealerships in the GTA
• Acting for the Purchaser of two high-profile hotel chains
Before joining Cassels Brock as an associate, Jamie worked as both a summer and articling student at the firm. He has served as a member of the firm's Student Committee for the past four years.
While in law school, Jamie was a caseworker with the Community and Legal Aid Services Program, a clinic primarily operated by law students to serve low-income members of the community. He was also a teaching assistant for Property Law in the Academic Success Program, an initiative in which upper year students facilitate study sessions for first year students.
