Jamie Firsten

Jamie is a member of the Business Law Group. His practice focuses on corporate and commercial law. He is also involved in private equity, venture financing, and merger and acquisition transactions involving both public and private companies.

Jamie has experience working with clients on the incorporation, organization and financing of companies, and in drafting shareholder, partnership, and joint venture agreements as well as a variety of commercial agreements.

He has worked on a variety of significant transactions, including:

• Goldcorp Inc.'s acquisition of two Canadian mining joint ventures from Kinross Gold Corporation
• Blue Pearl Mining's acquisition of Thompson Creek Metals for US$575 million

Before joining Cassels Brock as an associate, Jamie worked as both a summer and articling student at the firm. He was recently appointed to serve as a member of the firm's Student Committee.

While in law school, Jamie was a caseworker with the Community and Legal Aid Services Program, a clinic primarily operated by law students to serve low-income members of the community. He was also a teaching assistant for Property Law in the Academic Success Program, an initiative in which upper year students facilitate study sessions for first year students.
