Ian Blue, QC

Ian Blue is one of Canada’s senior energy lawyers and counsel. He is an accomplished commercial litigator in energy-related, administrative law and constitutional law issues. Ian has appeared before all levels of courts in Ontario, Alberta, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Yukon, as well as the Federal Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also appeared before the National Energy Board, the Ontario Energy Board and other provincial energy and utility boards in electricity and natural gas matters. In addition, Ian has provided policy and strategic advice in energy matters to utilities, corporations and provincial governments, and has drafted energy-related legislations and regulations.

On October 19-20, 2009, Ian Blue conducted a day-and-a-half long workshop for EUCI entitled Canadian Electricity Regulation 101, in front of approximately thirty-five attendees.

Ian received his LL.B. from Dalhousie Law School and is a member of the bars of Alberta and Ontario. Ian was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1985 and has been a Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada and a significant contributor to the legal profession.
