France M. Tenaille

France Tenaille is a partner in the Business Law Group and the Mining Group at Cassels Brock. Her practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, international transactions and related commercial and corporate matters. Her experience includes specific expertise on mining transactions, working with both public and private issuers in the natural resources sectors, through all stages of the mining cycle, domestically and internationally, including major, intermediate and junior mining companies, as well as exploration start-up companies. France is qualified to practice in both civil and common law jurisdictions. She is fluent in both English and Spanish. 

Prior to joining Cassels Brock, France practised law for over six years at a major national Canadian law firm. Before moving to Canada, France practised law for over four years at a leading law firm in Caracas, Venezuela.

Recent mining transactions or projects in which France has been involved, include:

  • Advising Goldcorp Inc. on the acquisition and divestiture of mining projects in Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Argentina and Chile
  • Advising Yamana Gold Inc. in the acquisition and divestiture of mining projects in Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Papua New Guinea
  • Advising Kinross Gold Corporation and Dundee Precious Metals Inc. on the acquisition and divestiture of mining projects in Canada, the United States and abroad
  • In general, advising on and negotiating domestic and international mining  agreements, including option agreements, joint venture agreements, royalty agreements, and other various commercial mining agreements
  • Advising various corporations on the acquisition and development of projects in Colombia, from acquisition to financing through public markets
