ProfileNoble C. ChummarNoble Chummar is a partner in our firm's Business Law and Government Relations Groups. The Globe and Mail recently identified Noble as one of Bay Street’s “rising stars.” In 2008, The National Post referred to Noble as one of Toronto's “power players" from the Indo-Canadian community. The Government of France listed him as a "2008 Person of the Future” and he was a guest of the President of France for a nation-wide official visit. Noble frequently appears on national television and radio programs on behalf of his clients and as a political commentator. Clients from a wide range of industry sectors have retained Noble Chummar including: energy, government, education, pharmaceutical, hospitals, insurance, mining, transportation, banking, retail and real estate development. As a federal negotiator for the devolution of the management of land and resources of the Northwest Territories, Noble traveled to some of the most remote parts of Canada's Arctic regions. Representing the Government of Canada, Noble worked closely with the Chairman of the firm, The Hon. David Peterson on constitutionally significant negotiations. The Premier of Ontario also appointed Noble as a negotiator during the tense Six Nations land dispute standoff in Caledonia. He has worked as a political aide to the former Mayor of Toronto and to a municipal councillor. Noble traveled the province with the Premier Dalton McGuinty as part of his campaign tour team during two successful provincial elections. Nationally, Noble served as a legal advisor to The Rt. Hon. Paul Martin's leadership convention planning committee. Noble also had the opportunity to travel with the Prime Minister of Canada and his campaign team during the 2004 and 2006 federal elections. Noble served as a senior team member and legal counsel to Toronto's successful bid to host the 2015 Pan American Games. Noble was praised by sports fans and the media in 2010 for successfully lobbying the government to allow mixed martial arts in Ontario on behalf of his client, Ultimate Fighting Championship (“UFC”), a multi-billion dollar sports organization. Noble has been instrumental in assisting Canadian and international clients in developing relationships on public-private partnership transactions with various levels of government. He has participated on government-led international trade missions, and has traveled on official business to Europe, Asia, the United States, and South America. Noble was a member of the Canadian delegation on the Government of Canada's diplomatic mission to monitor the national election in Ukraine in 2004. Noble served five years on the Council of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, the regulatory body that governs doctors in the Province of Ontario. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Providence Hospital and is Chairman of the Cinefranco International French Film Festival. Noble currently serves on the Board of Advisors for Creewest Airlines Inc. He also served on the Board of the Molson Grand Prix Drivers’ Gala and is on the Board of Directors for the CFL Grey Cup. Noble graduated from law school at the London School of Economics (LSE) and received his Masters of Law from Osgoode Hall Law School. His passions include film, SCUBA diving and travel.
