Andrea Buncic

Andrea Buncic is a 2011 – 2012 articling student at Cassels Brock. She joined the firm as a summer student in 2010.

Andrea is a graduate of the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University, where she was awarded the Graduating Class of 2008 Book Prize upon graduation for the camaraderie she exemplified during her time there. Prior to law school, she obtained a B.A. (Honours) in International Development- Political Economy and Administrative Change  at the University of Guelph.

While studying at the Schulich School of Law, Andrea was an active member of both the student and the Halifax community through various leadership and participatory roles.  In her first year, Andrea was a participant in the Weldon Arts and Culture Society’s inaugural Comedic Debate and volunteered with the Sierra Club of Canada through Pro Bono Students Canada. In her second and third years of school, she was both the Co-Chair of the Weldon Arts and Culture Society and was on the Executive of the Domus Legis Society as her year’s elected representative. In her third year she participated in the mock trial of Odysseus to raise money for a local charity that provided university lectures to lower income adults, called Halifax Humanities 101. That year she also spent a semester working for the Nova Scotia Adult Criminal Legal Aid Clinic in Halifax. During her time at law school, Andrea was also a member of the Dalhousie Law Alumni Mentorship Committee and the Graduate Committee Fundraising Team.

During her undergraduate degree, Andrea participated in a three-month work project in Costa Rica where she assisted in the construction of a water reservoir, taught English classes, facilitated women’s conferences and helped with rainforest reconstruction. She participated in a third-year exchange program to the University of Malta to study international politics from a European perspective. After university, she studied German while teaching English for four months in Rostock, Germany; after which she worked for the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario before attending law school.
