In The NewsLawrence Wilder Says Management Team Needs to be Cautious About Going PublicPublished: 11/12/2010 Securities lawyer Lawrence Wilder was quoted in an article entitled, "IPO or no? Going Public Has Its Downsides" published in the November 12, 2010 edition of The Globe and Mail. The article noted that while there are benefits to going public, private companies need to take many things into consideration when deciding to go public. “You need to look in the mirror as a management team and say, ‘Do we really want to be a public company with all the rigours and discipline that it requires, and the cost that it entails?’” said Lawrence Wilder. “And it sounds kind of funny that you're arguing against [your firm’s interests] in a sense, but it's better to get people who really, truly understand the downside of being public right up front.” |
