Heather Zordel Comments on National Regulator Setback for CBC News

In an unanimous decision, the Supreme Court of Canada had declared that the proposed Canadian Securities Act overreaches the federal government's jurisdiction, a decision that supports previous lower court rulings in Alberta and Québec.

The decision does not necessarily end Ottawa's push to become more directly involved in securities regulation. Heather Zordel commented on this story to CBC News on December 22, indicating that the court's statement could be a pathway to a single regulator.
