Emily Larose Helps MEDEC to Persuade Health Canada to Change Position on e-Labelling of Medical Devices

Published: 10/07/2010

Emily Larose provided a legal opinion to MEDEC, the national association of the Canadian medical technology industry, which helped confirm that methods of e-labelling for Medical Devices would be within the requirements of the Canadian Medical Devices Regulations. Her work was referenced in an article entitled, "An Update on e-Labelling," which was published in the September 2010 issue of MedecPulse, MEDEC's newsletter.

In July 2010, MEDEC challenged the Health Canada's position restricting e-labelling, which MEDEC was concerned put the Canadian industry at a disadvantage in light of major markets such as Europe and the US moving ahead with e-labelling concepts. As a result of MEDEC's request, Health Canada will be issuing a Policy Notice this autumn which will address the use of e-labelling.
