Colin noted that the perception that clean technology is the next high-growth area for business is partly the reason for increasing investment in the sector. He also said that government initiatives such as Ontario's green energy legislation and Sustainable Development Technology Canada have helped spur investor spending in the sector. Colin observed that the Toronto Stock Exchange's involvement in cleantech is attracting attention to Ontario and Canada and that a North American carbon-trading system will help accelerate the growth of clean technology.
