Cassels Brock Sponsors Musical Achievement for Inner City Youth

The firm is a sponsor of the annual fundraising dinner for The Minstrel Foundation for Music & Arts Advancement on June 9, 2009.  The Foundation raises funds for inner city music and arts programs for under-privileged youth and provides scholarships for needy students who wish to continue their studies. Cassels Brock helped the Foundation obtain its corporate charter and its tax registration and has also established a trust fund with the Foundation for a scholarship called the Cassels Brock Music Award.

This year the award will be presented to Tonia Tong from the Dixon Hall Music School.  Tonia is a 14 year old piano student who originally started playing the piano at age five and is currently studying under Gloria Saarinen at the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has won first place at the Kiwanis Festival in the concert class. She loves music and in her own words "hopes that her playing will bring the audience joyful memories". Tonia is an avid reader and loves everything associated with the outdoors, camping, swimming and climbing. She has achieved a 95% average in her first year at High School.
