Cassels Brock Recognized in Lexpert Magazine's Top 10 Corporate Deals of 2009
Michael Weinczok was quoted in "Top 10 Corporate Deals of 2009," an article which appeared in the January 2010 issue of Lexpert magazine.
Cassels Brock advised the government of Canada on the Chrysler Corporation and General Motors Corporation restructuring deals. Michael noted that the quick cross-border restructuring of GM was made possible by the convergence of circumstance and will as well as the template used in the restructuring of Chrysler.
Michael is a partner in the Financial Services Group. He played a significant role in the recent North American automotive industry restructurings. He acted for the Federal Government of Canada, through Industry Canada, in connection with the court-supervised sale of both General Motors and Chrysler. The transactions involved over US$12.5 billion of new Canadian Government financing and included a host of extremely time-sensitive issues, including cross-border bankruptcy, M&A, financing and litigation. The successful resolution allowed both automakers to maintain production share in the North American market and saved thousands of jobs.
