Appearing alongside other leading entertainment and copyright lawyers from Belgium, Germany, Nigeria, Russia, the United States and the United Kingdom, Casey discussed the implications of a number of recent cases in which the Cassels Brock copyright and entertainment litigation team has played a key role, including five appeals heard by the Supreme Court of Canada in December 2011 and the groundbreaking multi-million dollar settlement in Northey v. Sony Music Entertainment Canada et al., a development that has led to a complete overhaul of the licensing system for recorded music in Canada.
