On April 6, 2011, Erik Goldsilver will be a speaker at a session entitled, "Private Equity and Related Financing for Mineral Development" to be held as part of the Special Institute on International Mining and Oil & Gas.
The session will provide an overview of mineral financing models in South America involving equity, private equity and project finance banks, including:
- how these models work
- what portions of the mining operations cycle their financing addresses
- what particular legal and financial issues arise, for example: return hurdles
- collateral
- levels of involvement and participation with management
- requirements for hedging
Erik is a partner in the Business Law Group at Cassels Brock and practises in the area of corporate and commercial law with specific expertise in the mining and energy sectors.
