About the speakers

Ellen Bessner is a senior litigation partner with expertise representing corporations in employment disputes before the Ontario courts and regulatory tribunals (Employment Standards, Human Rights), in general commercial and securities litigation, as well as professional liability, particularly in regard to the securities industry. She is a professional speaker and has been engaged to present on topics of risk in employment law and securities matters across Canada and in the US.

John McGowan leads the firm's Employment Law Group. He has specialized in employment law for over 20 years, and represents our clients at all stages of the employment relationship, from recruiting to wrongful dismissal litigation, and all of the grief that happens in between. In addition, John has extensive expertise advising corporations, public and private, on employment issues that arise in corporate sales and purchases, and the particular employment related issues that arise in mergers and acquistions.
