Enforcing Your Social Media Policy Around the World

Date: 05/16/2011
Professional: Laurie Jessome
Conference: IFA Legal Symposium
Organizer: International Franchise Association
City: Washington, DC

On May 16-17, 2011, Laurie Jessome will speak about enforcing social media policy around the world at the International Franchise Association's  44th annual Legal Symposium.

The session will address topics such as:

  • Many international franchisors have a social media policy that international franchisees are contractually required to follow and enforce. What are the varying privacy, employment and free speech laws around the world that make the franchisee’s ability to enforce the social media policy problematic (or even illegal)?
  • What are the issues franchisees are likely to face in enforcing a system’s social media policy around the world?
  • What are the remedies available to aggrieved parties in those countries?
  • Hear insights on country-specific social media issues franchises face in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia. The paper will address additional countries.

Laurie specializes in Employment Law.
