On October 6, 2010, Ellen Bessner was a panelist at a session called, "Duty to Clients – The Fiduciary Debate Continues," during the Financial Planning Standards Council's Financial Planning Vision 2020 Symposium.

Synopsis of Panel Discussion:

The debate rages in Australia, UK and US on the duty of care that should be owned by financial advisors and financial planners, more and more attention is being drawn to the debate in Canada. The session discussed this important issue.


Ellen is a litigation partner who has developed a special niche representing investment dealers, mutual fund dealers, Portfolio Managers, compliance officers, branch managers/supervisors, and advisors in Ontario courts of all levels and at various regulatory tribunals, including IIROC, MFDA, OSC and FSCO.
