On May 2, 2011, Emily Larose will be a co-speaker at a session that will provide a consumer product safety case law update at the Canadian Institute's Forum on Consumer Product Safety, Liability & Recalls.. The session will focus on Government Negligence and other Recent Trends in Product Liability.
Synopis of session:
- How will increased regulatory oversight lead to increased government liability? (Sauer, Ontario Court of Appeal decision)
- Understanding the impact of holding the regulator to a private law duty of care for negligence in product recalls (Attis and Drady, Ontario Court of Appeal companion decisions)
- Successfully responding to a class action certification motion with application of recent Supreme Court decisions
- Strategies to manage personal injury claims arising out of product recalls
Emily is a partner in the firm’s Advocacy Group. She provides advice and representation to stakeholders in various regulated industries, with specific expertise working with Health Canada-regulated clients and has experience advising on all manner of regulatory issues, risk management and policy matters and applies her regulatory expertise to product liability and class action litigation. |
