Canadian employers operate in a complex and highly regulated environment. Keeping on top of updates to employment legislation and evolving case law is the key to managing risk and limiting litigation with current and former employees. In this seminar, we will review recent changes to legislation affecting the workplace and important trends in decisions from the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.

  • Compliance Update - Recap and update on recent amendments to the Employment Standards Act, 2000, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act, including the effect of Bill 132 on employers.
  • Key Decisions on Employment Standards - Update and consideration of how claims under the Employment Standards Act, 2000 are being determined after the 2014 amendments to the legislation.
  • Key Decisions on Human Rights in the Workplace - Interesting cases and trends on the enforcement of human rights in the workplace from a review of recent decisions from the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.
