ArticlesOntario Motor Vehicle Dealer's Act 2002 Implementation Delayed Until January 1, 2010Published: 03/04/2009 As anticipated, the Ontario Minister of Small Business and Consumer Services confirmed that the implementation date for the new Ontario Motor Vehicle Dealer's Act 2002 ("Act") has been moved from April 1, 2009 to January 1, 2010. This is clearly a welcome development for all parties who are impacted by the Act. As many of you are aware, industry representatives (including members of our firm) have indicated to various government authorities their concerns with respect to certain provisions of the new Act and regulations thereunder and the timing of its implementation. It is hoped that during this hiatus the Ministry will review concerns raised by the community and amend the Act and/or regulations in order to verify and assist the industry in moving forward. Notwithstanding this delay, our firm shall continue to provide you with information and updates with respect to changes to the new Act and regulations.
