TransactionsCassels Brock Wins Interlocutory InjunctionPublished: 08/14/2009 By Casey Chisick, Peter Henein, Tim Pinos Timothy Pinos, Casey Chisick and Peter Henein successfully represented Setanta Sports North America Ltd, Rogers Sportsnet Inc. and Setanta Sports (Canada) in an injunction brought against The Score Television Network. Our clients brought a motion for an interlocutory injunction to prevent the defendent, The Score, from unilaterally terminating a sublicense agreement with Setanta Sports North America Ltd with respect to the broadcast of FA Premier League soccer games in Canada. In a decision released on July 31, 2009, Madam Justice Spies of the Ontario Superior Court found that our clients had shown a strong prima facie case that the purported termination was wrongful, and that each of Setanta North America, Rogers Sportsnet and Setanta Canada would suffer irreparable harm from being denied the right to broadcast the soccer games in question.
