Cassels Brock Acts for Avalon Rare Metals Inc. as It Closes Public Offering of Common Shares for Gross Proceeds of $44 Million

On August 3, 2011, Avalon Rare Metals Inc. (“Avalon”) announced the closing of its previously announced public offering of 7,692,900 common shares, which includes 592,900 common shares issued pursuant to the partial exercise of the underwriters’ option to purchase up to 1,065,000 additional common shares at the applicable offering price to cover over-allotments. The common shares were offered at a price to the public of US$6.15 per share with respect to shares initially offered in the United States or in other countries outside of Canada and Cdn$5.81 per share with respect to shares initially offered in Canada.

The gross proceeds of the offering, before expenses, were US$47,311,335 (Cdn$44,695,749).
