Grieve, Bruce Leonard Bruce Leonard has again been elected to Who’s Who Legal in Canada for insolvency and restructuring. Who’s Who Legal in Canada is an annual compilation of the leading legal professionals in Canada and is published by Law Business Research of London, the publishing partner of the International Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Bruce has been listed in Who’s Who Legal – Canada for several years and, in this issue, Bruce was described by the Editors as “a legend in this field.” We are very pleased to welcome Larry Ellis to our Restructuring and Insolvency Practice Group. Larry worked at another major law firm in Toronto before joining Cassels Brock. Larry has extensive experience working on high profile restructurings in Canada including major cross-border restructurings. He looks forward to continuing to grow his practice at Cassels Brock. Deborah S. Grieve recently attended at the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) in Vienna from December 6-10, 2010, participating in the 39th Session of Working Group V (Insolvency Law) as part of the delegation for the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC). The Session was attended by delegates from 44 nations and 18 international non-governmental, intergovernmental and United Nations organizations. The Session considered (a) the interpretation and application of selected concepts of the UNCITRAL Model Law on Cross-Border Insolvency (“Model Law”) relating to centre of main interests (COMI), (b) directors’ responsibilities and liabilities in insolvency and pre-insolvency cases; and (c) judicial materials addressing the use and interpretation of the Model Law. |
