On May 26, 2015, the Ontario government passed the Making Healthier Choices Act. A portion of this legislation created the Healthy Menu Choices Act, which will require regulated food service premises with 20 or more locations in Ontario that are selling prepared ready-to-eat food to post itemized caloric content on menus. The Act will come into force on January 1, 2017. In October 2015, the Ontario Government released draft regulations to support the implementation of the menu labelling legislation.
